Axiom 80 Project Page
This page contains information on one of the most famous full-range drivers of all time: the Goodmans Axiom 80. Designed by Ted Jordan in the 1950s (or early 60s?), this driver features a high flux magnet and wide frequency response, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The suspension for the front and rear of the cone is made of double cantilevers (rather than surround and spider) which are glued to the cone. There is an outer cone plus inner cone (whizzer), and no dust cap or phase plug.
A number of lucky buyers got these brand new-in-box Axiom 80s and are going to build loudspeakers with them. This page will provide information, display projects and ideas, and coordinate efforts. Discussion can be made on the Full-Range Driver Forum.
Current ideas by owners include building the enclosure for a single Axiom 80 using the ARU 180 or similar acoustic resistance vent. Mick Maloney has written that this design did not work so well. Sherwin had these original cabinets built for his Axiom 80s and the sound is superb. The bass is a little recessed, but the music shines through very nicely.
Another option is to build a bass reflex cabinet based on the T/S parameters of the driver, though this might be quite large. The Goodmans design bass reflex corner cabinet is 341 litres. That is big. Several people are considering a version of Thorsten's Magnificat using either Goodmans bass drivers, or possibly Eminence Delta 12-B (16 Ohm) drivers, or a similar type of moderately high Q driver.
Because the Axiom 80 has a rising frequency response, similar to a Lowther driver, a rear-loaded horn might also be an option. Or you could try a large front-loaded horn like the Oris 150.

Projects and Experiences
Thorsten built the Magnificat Axiom 80 (below) with additional drivers (Goodmans Axiom 201 and a C37 modified dual piezo bullet horn from Motorola) to help the bass and highs.
Ferenc Cserei had been using an Axiom 80 in a Thorsten Magnificat-style enclosure (shaped differently):
Additional drivers are Goodmans Audiom 51 (same as an Axiom 201 without whizzer) with c37 lacquered cone and CTS piezo tweeters with c37 treatment and removed backchamber. Ferenc liked these a lot, but is now trying a more radical system. Stay tuned, but here's a hint: multi-amp, multi-speaker with Axiom 80 in a front horn.
Update
Here is Ferenc's new system:
